The info day of the Chamber of Ileia and the DAISSy Research Group of HOU on “Vocational training in accessible Tourism” was successfully completed

On June 9, 2022, at the Ileia Chamber of Commerce in Pyrgos, a dissemination event took place in the context of the Erasmus+ project “IN-TOUR – INclusive TOURism Professions. European Curricula For Accessible Tourism Manager And Frontline Staff”.

In his opening speech, the President of the Ileia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Konstantinos Nikoloutsos, welcomed the event as an important step in highlighting the contribution of accessible Tourism to the Tourism growth, its interconnection with the cultural heritage and the role of vocational training as a tool for professional development, but also as a link to employment policies.

The event was greeted, online, by Dr. Achilles Kameas, Professor at Hellenic Open University, Head of the DAISSy Research Group, who presented the research projects and activities of the DAISSy Group.

Then Ms. Vicky Maratou and Ms. Panagiota Polymeropoulou, Researchers with the DAISSy Group, presented the European curricula of IN-TOUR, as well as the new professional profiles for the manager and the frontline staff in accessible Tourism. As they mentioned, next October, the Hellenic Open University, through the Center for Training and Lifelong Learning, will offer the two courses, one for each profile.

The importance of accessible Tourism for Tourism growth was the main speech topic of both Mr. Ivor Ambrose, Managing Director and Mrs. Katerina Papamichael, Accessibility Expert of the European Network for Accessible Tourism (ENAT), who presented good practices, measurable indicators as well as strategies and concrete steps to highlight the economic and development dimension of accessible Tourism, in order to be incorporated as a valuable tool in the design of relevant measures and policies.

After a short break, the event continued with the presentation of Mr. Konstantinos V. Antonopoulos, MSc Archaeologist, Ephorate of Antiquities of Ileia, who presented the very interesting recent actions and achievements regarding accessibility in the archeological sites and museums of the Region of Ileia.

The event closed with the speech of Ms. Panagiota Stathopoulou, Employment Counsellor, DYPA, who focused on the importance of the integration of training in accessible Tourism, and the employment policies that could actively support companies in the search for qualified and highly skilled personnel.

The event was attended, among others, by representatives of the Members of Parliament for Ileia, members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Ileia, representatives of DYPA, representatives of hotel and tourist units, VET providers, students, tour operators and others.

Μαζικό Ανοικτό Διαδικτυακό Μάθημα (MOOC) με θέμα τη Ψηφιακή Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά

CDDC Logo - JPEGΗ ερευνητική ομάδα DAISSy του ΕΑΠ διαθέτει για 1η φορά το Μαζικό Ανοικτό Διαδικτυακό Μάθημα (MOOC) με τίτλο “Crowddreaming: Youth co-create Digital Cutlure ” και αντικείμενο τη Ψηφιακή Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά (Digital Cutlural Heritage). Το MOOC θα είναι ανοικτό μεταξύ Φεβρουαρίου και Απριλίου 2020 και θα παραμείνει ανοικτό συνολικά για 12 εβδομάδες στα Αγγλικά και Ελληνικά. Στόχο του αποτελούν Εκπαιδευτικοί δευτεροβάθμιας και των τελευταίων τάξεων από την πρωτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση (που διδάσκουν μαθητές μεταξύ 10 έως 19 ετών).

Promotion of “WEMIN” project at the “LINGUA CUISINE” project awareness event

Driven by enthusiasm was the promotional event of project LINGUA CUISINE that was organized on 20 Oct 2018, in Athens by the DAISSy (Digital Ambient Intelligence Sociotechnical Systems) Research Group of Hellenic Open University. The project promotes equality of access and participation in learning, with emphasis on the development of digital and linguistic skills. By using a combined educational methodology that promotes foreign language learning, digital literacy and intercultural communication through gastronomy, it helps social inclusion and prevents exclusion of people without or with few digital skills, while enhancing the creation of online digital communities with a common culinary interest. An online app for Android and iPhone has been developed as part of the project, which supports authoring and posting digital cooking recipes in six official EU languages. At the end of training, participants received a digital competence certificate based on the European standard DigComp 2.1. LINGUA CUISINE project achieved widespread adoption of this learning methodology with a focus on social inclusion of migrants and that is why project perfectly matches with the concept of project “WEMIN: Migrant Women Empowerment and Integration(AMIF-2016-AG-INTE / grant agreement no. 776201)

The project was promoted with a specially created short video showcasing all DAISSy projects along with a respective intervention delivered by Achilles KAMEAS, Project Scientific Coordinator and Head of DAISSy Research Group. All participants were informed about the project contents and objectives and were handed the project dissemination material. The event provided a favorable environment for the announcement of the upcoming awareness WEMIN activities i.e. “A chocolate unites us!” initiative (1.11.2018, at city centre of Athens) and the launch of the short policy guide for stakeholders involved in the management of migrants integration and social inclusion (9.11.2018, at the premises of HOU). These two WEMIN awareness events will be organized by Hellenic Open University – DAISSy Research Group (Coordinator) and “Olympic Training & Consulting Ltd (partner) for promoting the existing project results and strengthening their exploitation. The presentation of WEMIN triggered questions and attracted further interest of people in the project actions and future implementation.

The event was attended by almost sixty participants from all levels of education and other sectors of activities (local authorities, civil society, etc.) and it provided a favorable environment for the innovative use of digital technology in the learning process and the development of digital skills through creative activities that unite people and favor anti-discrimination behaviors.

Intelligent Environments (IEs) refer to physical spaces into which IT and other pervasive computing technology are woven and used to achieve specific goals for the user, the environment or both. IEs have the ultimate objective of enriching user experience, better manage, and increase user awareness of, that environment. The 12th International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE’16) will be held at the city of London, one of the most influential cities in the modern world, with rich offerings to visitors.

 

Conference Program: The conference provides a multidisciplinary collaborative forum for researchers and practitioners fromComputer Science, Electronic Engineering, Building Architecture, Art & Design, Sociology, Government and Education to present theoretical and practical results related to the development and applications of Intelligent Environments. The event will includeregular full/short papers as well as a Doctoral Colloquium, Posters Session and Demos & Videos Session.

We have guarantees of special issues from the editorial boards of the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments (JAISE), Intelligent Buildings International and Transactions on Future Intelligent Educational Environments (TOFIEE). LPManage is project of the month!

Every month a project which has been parti-cularly well presented in ADAM is selected as Project of the Month. November’s Project of the Month was „ Learn Play Manage “, a trans-fer of innovation project coordinated in Spain.
Learn Play Manage developed an international project management course that is based on social gaming.
Social gaming provides motivating and interactive learning environments. By simulating real-life situations, the learner is able to acquire international project management skills in a practical manner. Integration with social networks enables cooperative and social learning, thereby enabling the international team to practise working together.
The key objective of Learn Pay Manage was to improve access to attractive further educational provisions through the use of ICT.
