Invitation by DAISSy-HOU to the Online Workshop on Gender Disinformation, within GenderED Coalition

logo-genderedThe DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites you to participate in the online training activity on Recognizing and Combating Gender Disinformation: Tools and Strategies for an Inclusive Digital Space”, that takes place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00 (EET).

The event is organized as part of the “GenderED Coalition: A cross-country coalition against gender disinformation for equitable societies” European project, currently undergoing by DAISSy-HOU as the Greek partner, and aims at empowering professionals in the field of Media and Information Literacy (MIL), so as to address gender disinformation effectively.

Specifically, the GenderED Coalition online workshop focuses on practical skills and knowledge to help participants recognize and challenge gender-based stereotypes and biases in the media and online platforms. In addition, it addresses issues such as intersectionality and multiple identities, the development of critical thinking in media communication, and the promotion of empathy in digital environments. Emphasis is put on empowering participants to support gender equality in digital media spaces.

Furthermore, this training activity of the GenderED Coalition project targets:

  • Educators interested in MIL
  • University students engaged in gender studies and/or media studies
  • Researchers focusing on gender and media
  • Journalists and media/social media professionals
  • Human rights activists
  • Content creators and influencers interested in gender issues and MIL

It is noteworthy that:

  • Participation is free of charge.
  • Registration is required by submitting the relevant form
  • After registration, a confirmation email will be sent, with the Zoom platform access details.
  • A certificate of attendance is provided upon request.

GenderED Coalition is a two-year project co-funded by the CREA programme of the European Union. It is implemented by a consortium of five (5) partners, namely FORMA.Azione (Italy), Savoir Devenir (France), SDA (Bulgaria), BISI (Bulgaria), and the DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (Greece). The project addresses the fight against gender disinformation as a foundation for just and equitable societies.
