The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites you to the international conference entitled “Disinformation, Gender, and AI: The Power of Media and Information Literacy”, taking place in a hybrid mode on 29th September 2025, in Paris. The event will bring together academics, journalists, civil society representatives and policymakers, so as to discuss the intersections of disinformation, gender, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), putting emphasis on the crucial role of media and information literacy. Notably, the conference marks the completion of the “GenderED Coalition: A cross-country coalition against gender disinformation for equitable societies“ European project, with DAISSy-HOU as the Greek partner.
More precisely, the conference is addressed to activists, content creators, professionals, or students specializing in Media, Gender Studies, or Journalism. Indicatively, the topics to be covered include:
- Media literacy in the age of AI
- Gendered dimensions of disinformation
- Civil society responses
- Challenges and opportunities of AI
- Practical strategies for media literacy

The GenderED Coalition is a two-year project, co-funded by the CREA program of the European Union, and implemented by a consortium of four (4) partners, from four (4) EU member states i.e. Bulgaria, France, Italy and Greece. It addresses the fight against gender disinformation as a foundation for equitable societies. The project focuses on media literacy and gender equality, shedding light on gender-based disinformation and online gender violence, while empowering social media users through gender-sensitive awareness-raising.
