The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites you to two online workshops to be organized in the framework of «GenderED Coalition: A cross-country coalition against gender disinformation for equitable societies» European project, where it participates as the Greek partner. Mainly, the workshops aim at strengthening critical thinking and develop Media and Information Literacy skills.
Specifically, the first workshop is co-organized by DAISSy-HOU and the “Creative Hub GR, Hub for Innovation, Education & Technology” of EKKOMED (Hellenic Center for Audiovisual Media and Creation), and will take place on Wednesday, October 8th, 2025 (15:30–17:00 EET).
More precisely, the first workshop will address topics such as:
- Creativity – Critical Viewing – Visual Culture
- Critical analysis skills of the media and social networks
- Tools for empowering young people and educators through Media Literacy
Indicatively, presentations will be delivered by Irini Andriopoulou, Director of the “Creative Hub GR, Hub for Innovation, Education & Technology” of EKKOMED, Aspasia (Sissy) Theodosiou, Associate Professor at the University of Ioannina and Project Manager at DAISSy-HOU, and Kostas Mantzos, Researcher at DAISSy-HOU.
Furthermore, the second workshop l will be organized by DAISSy-HOU, will take place on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 (15:30–17:00 EET) and will focus on an open exchange and discussion with members of the “Board of Experts” of the GenderED-Coalition project, namely Athina Peglidou, Assistant Professor at AUTH (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Panagiotis Chaldeos, Political Scientist, and Marianna Stefanitsi, Gender Researcher.
The main objective of this workshop will be to link the results of the GenderED-Coalition project with topics such as:
- The gendered dimensions of disinformation
- Strategies to address gender-based violence in the media
- The role of civil society and experts in shaping practical solutions
The target groups of both workshops include:
- Students and young professionals in Gender Studies, Media Studies, and Journalism
- Educators and content creators
- Journalists, activists, and members of civil society organizations
- Any individual interested in developing critical perspectives towards media and social networks

GenderED Coalition is a two-year project co-funded by the CREA programme of the European Union and implemented by a consortium of five (5) partners from four (4) European countries: Bulgaria, France, Italy, and Greece. It addresses the fight against gender disinformation as a basis for fairer societies, focusing on media literacy and gender equality. The project has successfully shed light on gendered disinformation and online gender-based violence while empowering social media users through gender-sensitive awareness.
