The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), the Greek partner, presented the european project Advanced Media Literacy Education to counter online hate-speech (AmeLiE) at the online event entitled “Utilisation and promotion of Cultural Heritage”. Organised by DAISSy, the event was held online, open to the pubic, and took place on Monday, June 14th 2021.
Mr. Achilles Kameas, Professor of the HOU and Director of DAISSy, opened the event with a short greeting to 30 attendees and presented a number of the Group’s research activities and projects.
AMeLiE was highlighted as a project using bottom-up strategies to meet its main aim, i.e. to train school communities on how to deal with online hate speech, using social networking ICT tools with peer learning and crowdsourcing techniques.
Successfully nearing its 1st year, AMeLiE has completed the important stages of national researches and development of the educational material in English, while its training platform is currently under development by DAISSy.
