The BIBLIO Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is currently being designed and developed as a modern educational tool, that will enable learners to develop the digital and transversal skills which are considered to be fundamental for library professionals in the digital era.
The MOOC will include videos, presentations and reading material, and enhance the collaboration and peer learning through forums and chats. At the end of each module, learners will be enabled to self-assess their progress with the help of online quizzes.
The learners who will complete the MOOC will develop their skills on themes such as the:
- Online and offline communication • Communication and interaction with library users • Creating digital content • Exploring technological changes • Upskilling in information, data, and media literacy • Community assessment and facilitation.
- The MOOC is being developed by the DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), the Greek partner of the BIBLIO project. The Group, which has longtime experience in MOOCs, is working hard to deliver a modern Course that will serve efficiently the professional development needs of library professionals.
The BIBLIO MOOC will start in September 2021, and will be made available to all interested learners around the world, by the BIBLIO consortium.
Participants who successfully complete the MOOC will be awarded a Certificate of completion.
- The MOOC is part of the modular training programme for the development of the competences included in the Community Engagement and Communication Officer-CECO and Digital Transformation Facilitator-DIGY job profiles. It will be followed by the BIBLIO blended training course and the work-based learning activities.
