The BIBLIO MOOC consists of twenty six (26) modules dealing with topics such as Managing data, information and digital content, Basic principles of data safety and security, Digital citizenship,  Spotting opportunities, Mobilizing resources, etc.

  • Digital training material will be available online and the learners will be able to join a community of peers by participating in open discussions and active interaction through a forum.
  • A series of webinarsare planned based on the modules of the MOOC, where renown experts will present good practices and case studies.
  • Within the BIBLIO community platform, participants will be able to discuss on librarianship topics and relevant issues.
  • At the end of each unit, learners can self-assess their progress with the help of online quizzes.

The MOOC platform is being developed by the DAISSy Research Group of Hellenic Open University (HOU). DAISSy, which holds a longtime experience in MOOCs’ development, had been working hard along with all BIBLIO partners to deliver a modern MOOC that serves efficiently the professional development needs of library professionals. The MOOC is based on the Learning Management System (LMS) “Moodle”, the most known open source LMS (compatible also with Android, iOS), which serves a very large community of learners and offers  responsive design (mobile friendly included).

  • The BIBLIO MOOC kicks off at 4th October 2021 and is available in English to all interested learners around the world, by the BIBLIO consortium.
  • Participation is free of charge and the registration is easily done by filling in the form here.
  • Participants who successfully complete the MOOC will be awarded a Certificate of completion.

The MOOC is part of the modular training programme for the development of the competences included in the CECO and DIGY job profiles. It will be followed by the BIBLIO blended training course and the work-based learning activities.

BIBLIO-Boosting Digital skills for Librarians project’s partners are working hard to get everything ready for the start of the BIBLIO MOOC this autumn. The first MOOC on digital skills especially designed for library professionals is on the way, ready to launch on October 4th, with the MOOC platform having been developed by DAISSy!

Why this MOOC?

Today, libraries are not a just a place where people go to read and borrow books. They are community centers, safe places where people go to get advice and help, to access information, to get together with likeminded community members. Libraries offer a multitude of services, including access to digital technologies, computers, and the Internet, digitalized collections and content, virtual reality, coding courses or simply getting help with setting up an email and using e-services. When people have nowhere else to ask for support for these things, they go to their local library. With services evolving and expanding, the profession of the librarian is also changing.

The digital transformation is changing the role of libraries and library professionals, and it’s not always easy to understand and adapt to it. After analysing the library sector, and identifying skills gap, challenges and needs, we are offering librarians the Biblio MOOC. It aims to provide support to library professionals in gaining new skills and developing new innovative services.

What does the MOOC offer?

  • state-of-the-art curricula developed by experts under high standards of quality assurance
  • 26 modules covering transferrable and digital skills for library professionals
  • a flexible weekly workload and schedule of about 10 hours per week that you can complete at your own pace
  • personalised support provided by experienced lecturers
  • opportunity to meet, connect and network with peers from all over the world
  • certification in accordance with the European and national qualification frameworks
  • opportunity for participants who will successfully complete the MOOC to enlist in a specialised training programme and certify as Community engagement and communication officer or Digital transformation facilitator.

What are the conditions to join the MOOC?

The MOOC will be offered free of charge to anyone who is interested in joining the course. Experience in the library sector is a plus, but not mandatory. The registration form is now open. The course will start on 04thOctober and will last 8 weeks. Participants should be able to commit to about 10 hours of study per week, and should have at least an intermediate level of English, as all the online lessons and materials will be in English. If you complete the MOOC with a 70% success rate of the online assessment, you will receive the course certificate.

What is the course approach?

Unlike a traditional “course”, a MOOC is delivered on-line. The lectures are videos and reading materials, which are available 24/7. Take the course at your own pace, and interact with other students (and the trainers) through the forum. There are no late night calls, and you don’t have to travel! Each week you will be able to interact with highly experienced experts in 1-hour live webinars, but don’t worry – if you miss them, you will be able to watch them afterwards.

Each week, up to three lessons will be released. Each lesson contains the video materials to watch, homework for you to work on, and a quiz to assess your learning.

Η παρουσίαση του BIBLIO MOOC από την Ερευνητική Ομάδα DAISSy του ΕΑΠ κεντρίζει το ενδιαφέρον στην Εβδομάδα ALL DIGITAL 2021

biblio-alldigital-1Προσελκύοντας  μεγάλο αριθμό ενεργών συμμετοχών, συνολικά 187, πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 31 Μαρτίου 2021 η πρώτη Διεθνής διαδικτυακή εκδήλωση του έργου Biblio με θέμα την «Ενίσχυση των ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων και ικανοτήτων των επαγγελματιών των Βιβλιοθηκών».

Η εκδήλωση συνδιοργανώθηκε από το ευρωπαϊκό δίκτυο ALL DIGITAL, φορέα εταίρο του Biblio, σε συνεργασία με το εταιρικό σχήμα του έργου, κι εντάχθηκε στην εκστρατεία «All Digital Week-ADW 2021» με στόχο να κεντρίσει το ενδιαφέρον ως προς τα βασικά ευρήματα και παραδοτέα του έργου Biblio μέχρι σήμερα.

Συντονίστρια των εργασιών ήταν η Ekaterina Clifford, εκπρόσωπος επικοινωνίας της ALL DIGITAL και η έναρξή της εκδήλωσης έγινε με καλωσόρισμα από τον Peter Palvolgyi, Διευθύνοντα Σύμβουλο του Δικτύου, ο οποίος περιέγραψε συνοπτικά τους στόχους της εκστρατείας ADW 2021.

Οι ομιλίες ξεκίνησαν με τον Επιστημονικό Συντονιστή του Biblio, Καθ. Nicola Barbuti από το Πανεπιστήμιο Aldo Moro του Μπάρι , ο οποίος ανέλυσε την έννοια των «Επεκτεινόμενων Ατέρμονων Βιβλιοθηκών», σύμφωνα με την οποία οι νέες ψηφιακές Bιβλιοθήκες υποστηρίζουν τις καινοτόμες αλληλεπιδράσεις με την κοινότητα και ενεργοποιούν το ενδιαφέρον των χρηστών-στριών, οι οποίοι-ες πλέον διαδραματίζουν θεμελιώδη ρόλο.

Ακολούθησαν ομιλίες από τους εταίρους του έργου όπου παρουσιάστηκαν ευρήματα σχετικά με ► τα δύο αναδυόμενα προφίλ εργασίας: Υπεύθυνος-η Επικοινωνίας και Συμμετοχικότητας της Κοινότητας / Community Engagement and Communication (CECO) και Διαμεσολαβητής-τρια Ψηφιακού Μετασχηματισμού /Digital Transformation Facilitator (DIGY) (Tiana Zignani, Public Libraries 2030) ► τον τρόπο επίδρασης της πανδημίας στην κατάρτιση των επαγγελματιών των Βιβλιοθηκών (Kalina Ivanova, University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT)) και ► τη μεθοδολογία του διαρθρωτού εκπαιδευτικού προγράμματος του έργου BIBLIO που λαμβάνει υπόψη τα διαφορετικά επίπεδα ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων των επαγγελματιών των Βιβλιοθηκών (Mara Jakobsone, Data Media Group).

biblio-alldigital-2Εκ μέρους της Ερευνητικής Ομάδας DAISSy  του ΕΑΠ, ο κύκλος των ομιλιών ολοκληρώθηκε με την παρουσίαση της κας Ελένης Γεωργακάκου, Ερευνήτριας  και Υπεύθυνης Διαχείρισης  του έργου BIBLIO για την Ελλάδα, αναφορικά με το Μαζικό Ανοικτό Διαδικτυακό Μάθημα (Massive Open Online Course-MOOC) του έργου, για το οποίο η DAISSy είναι υπεύθυνη ανάπτυξης και τεχνικής υποστήριξης. Όπως επεσήμανε η κα Γεωργακάκου, το MOOC αναμένεται να διατεθεί από το Σεπτέμβριο του 2021 δωρεάν σε ενδιαφερόμενους-ες επαγγελματίες των Βιβλιοθηκών σε όλο τον κόσμο.  Στη συνέχεια της παρουσίασής της, ανέλυσε τα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά του μαθήματος, το περιεχόμενο και την ομάδα στόχο του, τα επιδιωκόμενα αποτελέσματα και τη συμβολή του στην επίτευξη των στόχων του έργου Biblio, αναδεικνύοντας παράλληλα την εξαιρετική υφιστάμενη τεχνογνωσία της DAISSy στο αντικείμενο αυτό.

Οι εργασίες ολοκληρώθηκαν με απαντήσεις στις ερωτήσεις των συμμετεχόντων-χουσών και την αναφορά στα επόμενα βήματα υλοποίησης του έργου.

Το έργο  «Biblio-Boosting digital skills and competences for librarians in Europe»  συγχρηματοδοτείται από το Ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα Erasmus+ της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, με το συμφωνητικό επιχορήγησης αρ. 612411-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPKA2-SSA, και στοχεύει να αντιμετωπίσει το χάσμα δεξιοτήτων στον τομέα της Βιβλιοθήκης εξαιτίας του ψηφιακού μετασχηματισμού που αλλάζει το ρόλο των Βιβλιοθηκών και των επαγγελματιών στον τομέα αυτό. Υλοποιείται από την Ερευνητική Ομάδα DAISSy του ΕΑΠ ως φορέα εταίρο στην Ελλάδα και υποστηρίζεται ενεργά από την  Εξ Αποστάσεως Βιβλιοθήκη & Κέντρο Πληροφόρησης του ΕΑΠ, ως βασικό διασυνδεδεμένο φορέα

Δύο νέα προφίλ ρόλων εργασίας στον τομέα των Βιβλιοθηκών από το έργο BIBLIO!

CECO-and-DIGY-cartoonsΒάσει των αποτελεσμάτων των μέχρι σήμερα ερευνητικών δραστηριοτήτων στο έργο BIBLIO, οι φορείς-εταίροι έχουν εντοπίσει τα ακόλουθα  προφίλ ρόλων εργασίας που θα αποτελέσουν τη βάση για το εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα:

  •  Υπεύθυνος-η Επικοινωνίας και Συμμετοχικότητας της Κοινότητας / Community Engagement and Communication (CECO) – link

33 εμπειρογνώμονες από Ιταλία, Λετονία, Βουλγαρία, Βέλγιο και Ελλάδα (τις χώρες εταίρους του BIBLIO) επικύρωσαν ότι οι γενικές περιγραφές των προσδιορισμένων προφίλ εργασίας και των επιλεγμένων εκπαιδευτικών ενοτήτων αντιστοιχούν σε EQF επιπέδου .

  • Οι φορείς-εταίροι του έργου συνεχίζουν να εργάζονται για την ανάπτυξη ενός λεπτομερούς αναλυτικού προγράμματος σπουδών Επαγγελματικής Εκπαίδευσης και Κατάρτισης (ΕΕΚ).
  • Η Ερευνητική Ομάδα DAISSy του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου υλοποιεί το έργο BIBLIO ως φορέας-εταίρος στην Ελλάδα και η Εξ Αποστάσεως Βιβλιοθήκη & Κέντρο Πληροφόρησης του ΕΑΠ υποστηρίζει ενεργά την υλοποίηση κι εμπλέκεται στις δράσεις του έργου, ως βασικός διασυνδεδεμένος τοπικός φορέας.

DAISSy-HOU links BIBLIO with EUHeritage EU project!

biblio-logoDAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (#DAISSy #HOU), the Greek project partner, links BIBLIO (#digitalskills , @DigitalBiblio) with “EUHeritage” EU project currently undergoing (601073-EPP-1-2018-1-IT-EPPKA2-SSA).

More precisely, the EUHeritage project (Skills for promotion, valorization, exploitation, mediation and interpretation of European Cultural Heritage) aims to contribute to innovative and cross-disciplinary approaches, so as to create a new transnational curriculum for cultural heritage professionals, focused on digital skills, transferable and transversal competences, soft skills and skills connected to “experience tourism” in the field of Cultural Heritage (CH).

  • This will be achieved first by identifying the necessary competences and the skills required for the cultural heritage professionals, then by developing the occupational core profiles for professionals employed in the field of CH (level 5 and 6 EQF) and by providing targeted training together with a set of assorted tools. The report analysis is already available online through the EUHeritage’s website.
  • The training will be built on three pillars i.e. cultural heritage, experience tourism and digital dimension, with the outer goal to create and produce innovative experiences for tourists and local communities for a sustainable promotion of  CH using digital dimension developing participation and  links with creative communities. The course will be on-line during spring 2021.
  • The tools will include an instructional meta-methodology, where new scenarios will be included that the pandemic situation activated in the cultural and tourism contexts: new paradigms of interpretation needed, in order to rethink the products, the demand, the activities of the offer and the policies to re-launch destinations and sites!

euheritage-logoIt is noteworthy, that the EUHeritage e-platform will be created under Creative Commons licenses and Open Educational Resources – it is expected to foster the cooperation of the CH sector with other sectors and industries, in particular technology, tourism, SMEs, and Creative and Cultural industries, to allow further scope for creativity, innovation and sustainability.

The #BIBLIO and #EUHeritage findings will be transferred bilaterally and effectively by DAISSy Research Group of HOU within the implementation period, so that the beneficiaries of both projects fully gain from this valuable exchange of experience (https://www.biblio-project.eu/stories/euheritage-project/).

Ανάγκες κατάρτισης των επαγγελματιών στον τομέα των βιβλιοθηκών: ενημερωθείτε για τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας!

biblio-logoΗ έρευνα του #DigitalBiblio σχετικά με τις ψηφιακές δεξιότητες (#digitalcompetences, #digitalskills) και τις ανάγκες κατάρτισης των επαγγελματιών στον τομέα των βιβλιοθηκών, έχει ολοκληρωθεί !

Αφού αυτο-αξιολόγησαν το επίπεδο των #DigComp πεδίων τους, οι επαγγελματίες που συμμετείχαν στην έρευνα του έργου BIBLIO, έκριναν το επίπεδό τους ως «βασικό» στις ακόλουθες θεματικές ενότητες:

  • Ασφάλεια – 48%
  • Επίλυση προβλημάτων – 36%
  • Δημιουργία περιεχομένου – 36%
  • Επεξεργασία πληροφοριών – 23%
  • Επικοινωνία – 20%

Σαφώς, εντοπίζεται χάσμα δεξιοτήτων το οποίο αναμένεται να καλυφθεί, μέσω του #VET Curriculum του έργου, που είναι σε εξέλιξη.

Το έργο BIBLIO της Ερευνητικής Ομάδας DAISSy του ΕΑΠ κεντρίζει το ενδιαφέρον στην ALL DIGITAL SUMMIT 2020!

all-digital-logoΑποτελεί τιμή για το έργο BΙBLIO, η παρουσίασή του στην ετήσια Σύνοδο Κορυφής 2020 του πανευρωπαϊκού δικτύου ALL DIGITAL (7 & 8.10.2020)! Το έργο BIBLIO συμπεριλήφθηκε στον δεύτερο κύκλο συζητήσεων της πρώτης ημέρας εργασιών της Συνόδου, όπου δόθηκε έμφαση στις εφαρμογές των ψηφιακών δεξιοτήτων και στο ρόλο που διαδραματίζουν τα συναφή κέντρα ανάπτυξής τους. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό προβλήθηκε η μεθοδολογία έρευνας αναφορικά με τα αναδυόμενα εργασιακά προφίλ στον τομέα των Βιβλιοθηκών (“Community Engagement and Communication Officer” και “Digital Transformation Facilitator”) καθώς και τα χαρακτηριστικά τους.

  • Οι εργασίες της Συνόδου 2020 του Δικτύου ALL DIGITAL πραγματοποιήθηκαν διαδικτυακά, κερδίζοντας το ενδιαφέρον ακαδημαϊκών, ερευνητών αλλά και επαγγελματιών στο χώρο της εκπαίδευσης, της αυτοδιοίκησης, του πολιτισμού, κλπ.
  • Tο Δίκτυο της ALL DIGITAL είναι πανευρωπαϊκό και απαριθμεί 70 μέλη, τα οποία αντιπροσωπεύουν κέντρα ψηφιακών ικανοτήτων ή δίκτυα κέντρων ψηφιακών ικανοτήτων, κέντρα μάθησης ΤΠΕ, κέντρα εκπαίδευσης ενηλίκων και βιβλιοθήκες σε ολόκληρη την Ευρώπη, όπου παιδιά και ενήλικες μπορούν να έχουν πρόσβαση στο διαδίκτυο, να μάθουν για τις πλέον πρόσφατες ψηφιακές δεξιότητες και να ενημερώνονται για τις τεχνολογικές εξελίξεις. Μέλος της ALL DITIGAL είναι η Ερευνητική Ομάδα DAISSy του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου, που υλοποιεί το έργο BIBLIO ως φορέας-εταίρος στην Ελλάδα.

Η Ερευνητική Ομάδα DAISSy συμμετέχει στις Ημέρες Erasmus στο πλαίσιο του έργου BIBLIO

Erasmus-Days-biblioΗ 4η διοργάνωση των «Ημερών Erasmus» (Erasmus Days) είναι εδώ στις 15-17 Οκτωβρίου 2020! Ελάτε μαζί μας για τον τριήμερο εορτασμό του προγράμματος Erasmus+ στην Ευρώπη και πέρα από αυτήν, κατά τη διάρκεια των #ErasmusDays.

Κατά τη διάρκεια αυτών των τριών ημερών, δικαιούχοι του προγράμματος Erasmus+, Ευρωπαϊκοί εμπλεκόμενοι φορείς ή/και απόφοιτοι του προγράμματος διοργανώνουν διάφορες εκδηλώσεις για να μοιραστούν την εμπειρία τους στο Erasmus ή/και να διαδώσουν νέα σχετικά με τα έργα τους που έχουν λάβει χώρα στο πλαίσιο του Erasmus+.

Εκθέσεις, συναυλίες, διαγωνισμοί, σεμινάρια, δικτύωση συνεργατών, «ανοιχτές» ημέρες δράσεων, διανομή εγγράφων Κινητικότητας Europass, ψηφιακές εκδηλώσεις και άλλα! Υπάρχει ένας ειδικός αποκλειστικός Ιστότοπος με χάρτη εκδηλώσεων (map of events) ώστε κάθε ενδιαφερόμενος-η να μπορεί να ενημερωθεί για το τι συμβαίνει σε όλο τον κόσμο κατά τη διάρκεια αυτών των ημερών. Και το έργο μας Biblio είναι επίσης εκεί!

BIBLIO exploits the valuable experience of Mu.SA. project

photo-BIBLIO and MuSAProject Mu.SA: Museum Sector Alliance targeted the museum sector and addressed the skill gaps and increasing disconnection between the formal education (and training) and the employment sector, which are mainly due to the emergence of new job roles and the quickening pace of the adoption of ICT in the sector. Mu.SA was coordinated by Hellenic Open University–DAISSy Research Group (GR) and was implemented between 2016 and 2020 under the Erasmus+ Sector Skills Alliances framework by a consortium of eleven partners from Greece, Italy, Portugal and Belgium.

Project Mu.SA created and offered a set of online and offline learning opportunities and contributed to the development of essential digital skills by museum professionals. Firstly, the project described four emerging job profiles: Digital Strategy Manager, Digital Collections Curator, Digital Interactive Experience Developer and Online Community Manager. A complete training curriculum was designed and implemented for each of them, consisting of two major stages: a MOOC, which was common for all profiles, followed by a blended course, which was specialized for each profile; the last stage of the course included an extensive workplace learning phase.

The Mu.SA training methodology, shortly presented in this article,  provides an excellent basis for BIBLIO! It is true that the two projects share common characteristics and that is the reason why, they are strongly interrelated. The Massive Open Online course (MOOC) entitled “Essential Digital Skills for Museum Professionals” is especially designed for the museum community, targeting professionals, students, volunteers and unemployed, who wanted to pursue their future career in the museum sector. The Mu.SA MOOC is a flexible, self-paced course organized in modules that allows trainees to develop a set of 22 core digital and transferable competences required for the museum sector.

The Mu.SA MOOC extends over eight (8) weeks of training, each week consisting of 2-3 training modules. For each one of the 22 competences, a separate training module has been designed, the material of which was grouped into units, which include presentations, videos and study material related to a set of learning outcomes that are assessed at the end of the module. Each week focuses on one competence coming from e-CF (the European standard of IT competences) and combines related competences from DigComp (the global standard of digital literacy of the average citizen) and P21 (a 21st century skill model) frameworks. Beyond the ability to develop digital strategy, digital content or use digital tools and platforms, trainees advance their skills like time management, communication, team-working, leadership and creative thinking. During the deployment of the MOOC, online tutors monitored, assisted and facilitated learners’ training. Once enrolled, trainees had guided access to all videos, quizzes, and assignments. A dedicated training platform based on the popular Moodle platform was developed by the HOU-DAISSy Research Group and the course was designed so as to facilitate active participation, peer-learning and open discussion among the course participants. After the completion of the training course, successful learners were able to develop and use digital and transferable competences necessary for professionals working in the museum sector. The instructional design was based on learning outcomes and was modular, in order to allow each trainee to study based on his / her pace and availability.

The Mu.SA MOOC is a unique combination of the European Frameworks and standards, and for this reason it is considered as best practice at European level. The impressive element in the Mu.SA training course was that the enrollment to the MOOC attracted more than 5.000 people from more than 45 countries from all around the world! After the successful completion of the MOOC, almost 1400 people [coming from Greece (400 people), Italy (491), Portugal (137) and other countries (371)] were certified, having attended more than 80% of the whole course and succeeding in at least 80% of graded activities; all candidates were able to download their digital certification through the Moodle Platform.

Learners who successfully completed the MOOC were eligible to continue their learning journey by applying for an advanced, six-month specialization course. Selected students, based on specific criteria, could choose a specialization training in one of the four emerging job profiles: Digital Strategy Manager, Digital Collections Curator, Digital Interactive Experience Developer and Online Community Manager. Open Educational Resources (OERs) were offered in these four specialized courses, for a total of 27 digital competences, 21 (e-CF) and 6 (DigComp) as well as 15 transferable competences, through blended learning (e-learning and face-to-face lectures) and work-based learning in a museum in Greece, Italy or Portugal. A total of 79 museum professionals completed the course successfully and were specialized in one the four job profiles. Forty two online selected OERs were designed and developed for Mu.SA courses and are available today.

It is noteworthy, that Mu.SA has been included in the DigComp User Guide (2018) as one of the 38 existing inspiring practices of DigComp implementations and it is selected as one of the 9 best cases that use DigComp for employment. In addition, Mu.SA project has been proposed as Good Practice under the “Initiative 8 – Heritage-related skills / Component 3: Opportunities for cultural heritage professionals” by European Commission. Recently (2020), Mu.SA project was included in the “DigComp at Work” report issued by EU, as best practice for implementing the DigComp framework for digital competences (!).

It is clear that the effective structure of Mu.SA methodology and the project accomplishments about applying the DigComp framework in the employment sector (for museums) provide an excellent example to be fully exploited and adjusted when developing the respective BIBLIO methodology for the library sector. The Mu.SA lessons learnt will be transferred effectively by HOU-DAISSy Reseach Group within the implementation of BIBLIO project, so that the current partnership and BIBLIO beneficiaries fully gain through this valuable experience.
