DAISSy-HOU announces the online Info Day on «The new frontiers of teaching between virtual and artificial intelligence», within the UPDATE project

update-logoThe DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites to the info day on  «The new frontiers of teaching between virtual and artificial intelligence», to be organized within the framework of the implementation of the UPDATE- User-friendly Practical Distance Active Training Experience European project, currently undergoing by DAISSy, as the Greek partner. The activity takes place on Thursday 18th January 2024 from 15.00’ to 18.30’EEST, and is organized by the project coordinator Ente Acli Istruzione Professionale Piemonte, in Torino (Italy), providing also the possibility of online participation!

Specifically, the event is addressed to vocational education and training providers, apprenticeship advisors, vocational training teachers, decision-makers, researchers and education professionals.

More precisely:

The UPDATE project aims at strengthening and implementing a digital ecosystem for vocational training by collecting and developing digital and technological solutions and enhancing the updating of digital skills of vocational education and training of teachers and trainers. The overall objective of the project is to improve the quality of vocational training provided by VET organisations – with a view to increasing the learning opportunities, integration and training success of trainees, as well as their employability – by enhancing the capacities of trainers and instructors to implement blended and distance learning formats and to apply new technologies to vocational training activities with a high practical content.

The project is implemented by a consortium of four (4) partners representing four (4) European countries (Greece, Italy, Estonia, Denmark). The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University, the Greek partner, participates in all deliverables of the UPDATE project and is responsible for the development of the UPDATE training programme and the electronic learning platform.

Info Day on “The use of digital solutions in vocational training and education” by DAISSy-HOU, within the UPDATE project

update-logoThe DAISSy research group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites to the info day on “The use of digital solutions in vocational training and education”, to be organized within the framework of the implementation of the UPDATE- User-friendly Practical Distance Active Training Experience European project, currently undergoing by DAISSy, as the Greek partner.The activity takes place on Friday 15th December 2023 at 18.00’, in Patras, Greece (“Moxy Patra Marina” Hotel), providing also the possibility of online participation, through the zoom electronic platform.

Specifically, the event is addressed to individuals and representatives of associations, institutions and bodies at local, national and European level. In particular, it is addressed to vocational education and training providers, apprenticeship advisors, vocational training teachers, decision-makers, researchers and education professionals.

To this end, the event focuses on the effective integration of new technologies in the educational process, mainly in practical/manual content, as well as the presentation of the UPDATE project deliverables, which have been developed through the contribution of DAISSy-HOU as partner – in addition, the event will add value to this direction by supporting vocational education and training providers, tutors and teachers.

Digital skills on-line training course for Vocational Education & Training (VET) tutors and trainers, provided by the UPDATE prοject of DAISSy-HOU

update-logoThe DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) invites Vocational Education & Training (VET) tutors and trainers to participate in the online course provided by the UPDATE- User-friendly Practical Distance Active Training Experience European project, aiming at developing and reinforcing the digital readiness of VET organizations.

The course enhances the digital and soft skills of trainers and tutors in vocational training, in order to update their knowledge and competences concerning the design of digital practical-manual lessons in addition to face-to-face lessons by exploiting tools such as software, apps, platforms. As a result, the learners will develop the awareness of “for and against” aspects, opportunities, and risks of digital and distant teaching in VET centers.

More precisely:

The course is provided online through the UPDATE e-learning platform developed by DAISSY-HOU.

It starts on 4th September 2023, having a 40-hour work effort, in total.

It includes the following 4 modules:

  • Module 1. TEACHING AND LEARNING WITH DIGITAL SOLUTIONS
  • Module 2. INTEGRATING DIGITAL TOOLS IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS
  • Module 3. PRACTICAL TRAINING ON DIGITAL TOOLS
  • Module 4. IMMERSIVE TRAINING WITH VR, AR, MR

Multiplier event of the UPDATE project “The utilization of digital solutions in vocational education and training”

DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University organized a dissemination event of the project UpDATE- User-friendly Practical Distance Active Training Experience (http://update-project.eu/ ) under the title “The utilization of digital solutions in vocational education and training”.

The event took place on Friday 11th November 2022, at 18:00, in the “Byzantino” Hotel in Patras, Greece, with participants coming from the vocational education and training sector, both teachers/trainers and representatives of VET organizations, representatives of digital solutions providers and representatives of institutional education bodies.

The event started with a welcome address by Dr.Spyridon Papadakis, Organizational Coordinator of the Regional Centre for Educational Planning of Western Greece and his intervention on the need for the vocational education and training sector to utilize modern digital solutions in order to upgrade the content and effectiveness of education.

In addition, Dr. Achilleas Kameas, Professor at the School of Science and Technology and director of the DAISSy research group of the Hellenic Open University, presented the group’s scientific interests, activities and the numerous projects it implements.

Later on, the participants had the opportunity to be informed about the objectives, expected results and actions of the UPDATE project by Mr. Konstantinos Potsis and Ms. Panagiota Polymeropoulou, key members of the project team, while the first deliverable of the project was presented and more specifically a report on good practices in the implementation of digital solutions in vocational education and training across Europe and popular useful digital solutions: http://update-project.eu/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/UPDATE-IO1-Greek-compressed.pdf.

Finally, there were two more presentations on DAISSy research group’s projects that contribute to digital readiness in the fields of education and vocational training, namely the DigiPath project – “Enhancing the readiness of Vocational Training teachers for digital education” – by Ms. Vicky Maratou, and the Agile2Learn project – “Developing the professional skills of teachers and students” – by Dr. Katerina Nikolakopoulou.

Press Release of UPDATE project

The DAISSy research group of the Hellenic Open University participates in the activities of the new project entitled “UPDATE- User-friendly Practical Distance Active Training Experience”, which is co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme 2021-2027.

The general objective of UPDATE project (with a duration of 24 months) is to improve the quality of vocational training delivered by VET organisations – in view of increasing the learning opportunities, inclusion and training success of learners, as well as their employability – reinforcing the trainers and tutors’ abilities to implement forms of blended and distance didactic and apply the new technologies to the training activities of high practical and manual content (specific feature of vocational training).

On March 10th and 11th2022, the kick-off meeting of the UPDATE project was delivered with physical presence of the partners in Copenhagen, hosted by VIRSABI from Denmark, while ENAIP from Italy is the Coordinator of the project. The first project meeting was dedicated to an overview on the UPDATE project, the proposal submitted and previous agreements among partners. The project meeting was dedicated to networking, project management, administrative, financial aspects, quality evaluation, and reporting obligations of all partners. It was a great help for the partners in order to properly understand the deliverables of the project, such as Research-Desk Analysis on good practices, Blended Course and Plan for the Integration of new Technologies in Teaching Activities. In addition, the meeting clearly defined the work plan and tasks to be implemented by each partner.

Through the project, each partner, in view of a continuous improvement, will be able to integrate the didactic practices in use and redefine their training model, innovating, at the same time, work processes and contents. Finally, the project partners foresee to contribute to the modernisation process of the VET system and to the improvement of the quality of the training offer at large.
