Kick off meeting of DELTA project in Patras, Greece

The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University organized the Kick off Meeting of the 30 months project DELTA (Digital Excavation through Learning and Training in Archaeology). DELTA is funded in the context of Erasmus+/KA2 EU programme (Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education), and its official launch took place in Patras, Greece on November 8^th and 9^th of 2019.

DELTA is an EU transnational initiative that brings together 4 partners/ Universities of three countries (Greece, Italy and Czech Republic). The partnership consists of 3 Universities that have a specialization in Archaeology and excavation techniques [NKUA, MUNI, UNIBAS], while the coordinator [HOU] has a long experience in e-learning courses and in developing online platforms.

The project, which is coordinated by DAISSy Research Group of Hellenic Open University, aims to design and develop a course that combines the physical space of an archaeological excavation with the digital space of online learning. With this course, students of Archaeology will be able to improve update their knowledge and skills and develop digital and 21st century skills in particular.

In the two day meeting, partners presented their University, shared their opinions, expertise and advice based on their roles and project tasks of the forthcoming project activities. During the second day of the meeting in Patras, the participants had the opportunity to visit the New Archaeological Museum in Patras and guided by Archaeologist of Ephorate of Antiquities of Achaia (EFAACHA) in a scheduled tour, to the exhibitions and archaeological collections and findings derived from excavations in Achaia.

The project meeting closed with decisions on the next actions on Intellectual Outputs I and II.

DELTA is for Digital Archaeology students!

The DELTA (Digital Excavation through Learning and Training in Archaeology) project is a transnational programme funded under Erasmus+ EU program (Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education) and is coordinated by the DAISSy research group of Hellenic Open University (daissy.eap.gr), bringing together 4 partners from 3 European countries (Greece, Italy and Czech Republic). The project started in October 2019 and has a duration of 30 months.

DELTA aims at the design and development of an open course through which students of Archaeology will be able to update their skills and develop new digital and 21^st century skills. The project is innovative since it integrates the excavation site as an instructional tool in the classroom-based instruction of Archaeologists using digital means.

The course will support a blended learning process through an open, online-learning platform as well as face to face and on-site learning with a transnational mobility of students and their professors of Archaeology.

After the blended learning, selected students from each partner University with their Professor/educator will be able to be trained and work together in multinational groups and benefit from the knowledge and skills exchange in a joint excavation (Intensive Study Programme-ISP), in the historical place of Marathon, Greece.

DELTA will result in the design and development of a Teaching Handbook in four languages as well as the creation of Policy and good practices towards the application of new methods and modernization of excavation practice using the news technologies.

Μαζικό Ανοικτό Διαδικτυακό Μάθημα (MOOC) με θέμα τη Ψηφιακή Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά

Η ερευνητική ομάδα DAISSy του ΕΑΠ διαθέτει για 1η φορά το Μαζικό Ανοικτό Διαδικτυακό Μάθημα (MOOC) με τίτλο “Crowddreaming: Youth co-create Digital Cutlure ” και αντικείμενο τη Ψηφιακή Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά (Digital Cutlural Heritage). Το MOOC θα είναι ανοικτό μεταξύ Φεβρουαρίου και Απριλίου 2020 και θα παραμείνει ανοικτό συνολικά για 12 εβδομάδες στα Αγγλικά και Ελληνικά. Στόχο του αποτελούν Εκπαιδευτικοί δευτεροβάθμιας και των τελευταίων τάξεων από την πρωτοβάθμια εκπαίδευση (που διδάσκουν μαθητές μεταξύ 10 έως 19 ετών).

“Boosting digital skills and competences of libraries in Europe” Kickoff Meeting

DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University participated in the Kick off Meeting of the three-year project “Boosting digital skills and competences of libraries in Europe”. BIBLIO is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union under Action KA2 – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices – Sector Skills Alliances, and its official launch took place in Bari (Italy) on January 27th and 28th.

BIBLIO aims to address the skills gap in the library sector due to digital transformation. The project has been created by the consortium of 10 partners from five countries (Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Latvia). The partnership includes sectoral organisations – national and international library networks and organisations; VET providers, a university and two European networks in digital skills and library professionals.

During meeting, the partners discussed various work packages and challenges, defined the priorities and set the action plan for the first year. On Day 1 the partners talked about the management and communication, prepared for the needs analysis research, got introduced to the coaching circle methodology and the good practices in mapping emerging job roles, based on the experience of MuSA project. The second day was devoted to the VET curricula, MOOC design and delivery, specialisation course for library professionals, and project dissemination activities.

DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University will participate in all project Work Packages by conducting the research, developing the MOOC, piloting BIBLIO activities in Greece and contributing to the project dissemination and exploitation activities.

“XENIA: HΕ Inclusiveness Index” Kickoff Meeting

DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University participated in the Kick off Meeting of the three-year project “XENIA: HΕ Inclusiveness Index”. XENIA is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union under Key Action 3, and its official launch took place in Naples (Italy) on January 16th and 17th.

XENIA is implemented by a Consortium of 7 Partners from 5 European countries (Italy, Ireland, Slovenia, Greece and Spain). The project will develop an innovative and integrated tool that will support European Higher Education Institutions -HEIs- in evaluating the actual level of inclusiveness of their environment and in identifying any efforts that can be placed to best address the needs of sexual and gender marginalized groups and ensure the protection of their fundamental rights and academic opportunities.

At the meeting, the Partners cooperated in the planning of activities for Work Package 1 in order to define a common methodology and identify the thematic areas and indicators for the Index, which is the tool to enhance HEIs’ inclusiveness and to equip them with Tools, Case studies/Policies and Best Practices to combat gender and sexual orientation stigma and exclusion. Then, Partners outlined the details of Evaluation and Quality Assurance activities.

The Kickoff Meeting also presented a great opportunity for Partners to agree upon the web domain, the project logo and web design in order to foster XENIA’s visibility and exploitation and to launch dissemination activities, with both online and offline means to reach almost 3 million of people, the total amount expected over the three years of the project.

DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University will participate in all project WPs by conducting the research, developing the INDEX, piloting XENIA activities in Greece and contributing to the project dissemination and exploitation activities.

Παιδιά Μετανάστες και Κοινότητες σε μια Μεταβαλόμενη Ευρώπη

Βασικός στόχος του έργου είναι η ενίσχυση της ένταξης διαφορετικών ομάδων παιδιών που ανήκουν στις ευπαθείς ομάδες- και συγκεκριμένα μεταναστών και προσφύγων- υιοθετώντας μια παιδοκεντρική προσέγγιση με απώτερο στόχο την ένταξή τους σε εκπαιδευτικό και κοινωνικό επίπεδο. Μία από τις βασικές επιδιώξεις του προγράμματος είναι η επανεξέταση των υφιστάμενων πολιτικών ένταξης, των διαδικασιών ένταξης των μεταναστών και προσφύγων, με στόχο την ενδυνάμωσή τους.

Το ερευνητικό μέρος του έργου αφορά κυρίως: α) στην προσέγγιση των παιδιών, στην κατανόηση των προκλήσεων της ένταξης, στις ανάγκες τους και στη δημιουργία συνθηκών καλής διαβίωσης και ευημερίας, β) στη δημιουργία κατάλληλων εκπαιδευτικών εργαλείων και γ) στη δημιουργία Εργαστηρίων Ένταξης

Promoting inclusion to combat early school leaving

Προωθώντας την Ένταξη για την Αντιμετώπιση της Πρωϊμης Εγκατάλειψης του Σχολείου

Erasmus plus, ΔΙΑΡΚΕΙΑ ΕΡΓΟΥ: 2019-2021

Το έργο PICAET επικεντρώνει στο ζήτημα της πρόωρης εγκατάλειψης του σχολείου, σε ομάδες του μαθητικού πληθυσμού που διατρέχουν τον κίνδυνο του κοινωνικού αποκλεισμού στις ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, καθώς τα εκπαιδευτικά περιβάλλοντα γίνονται ολοένα και πιο πολυπολιτισμικά.

Ως εκ τούτου, σκοπός του PIACET είναι η πρόληψη απέναντι στο φαινόμενο της πρόωρης εγκατάλειψης του σχολείου μεταξύ των ομάδων του μαθητικού πληθυσμού που διατρέχουν τον κίνδυνο του κοινωνικού αποκλεισμού, συμβάλοντας στη βελτίωση της ποιότητας της διαπολιτισμικής κατάρτισης των εκπαιδευτικών στην Προσχολική και Πρωτοβάθμια Εκπαίδευση.

Οι συγκεκριμένοι στόχοι του έργου περιλαμβάνουν:

Τη χαρτογράφηση και παροχή μιας σειράς αποτελεσματικών πρακτικών διαπολιτισμικής εκπαίδευσης και εκπαίδευσης για την ένταξη, οι οποίες εφαρμόζονται σε ευρωπαϊκές χώρες για την καταπολέμηση της πρόωρης εγκατάλειψης του σχολείου από ομάδες που διατρέχουν τον κίνδυνο κοινωνικού αποκλεισμού.
Τον προσδιορισμό μιας δέσμης δεικτών για αποτελεσματικές διαπολιτισμικές πρακτικές.
Το σχεδιασμό και την εφαρμογή ενός συστηματικού προγράμματος κατάρτισης εκπαιδευτικών που θα επιτρέπει στους εκπαιδευτικούς να χρησιμοποιούν και να αναπτύσσουν περαιτέρω αποτελεσματικές διαπολιτισμικές πρακτικές, που να ενθαρρύνουν την κοινωνική ένταξη και την ισότητα των μαθητών που διατρέχουν τον κίνδυνο πρόωρης εγκατάλειψης του σχολείου.
Τη διάδοση ενός συνόλου αποτελεσματικών διαπολιτισμικών εκπαιδευτικών πρακτικών στα σχολεία στην Ευρώπη, καθώς και ένα σύστημα δεικτών, ώστε οι εκπαιδευτικοί να μπορούν να αξιολογήσουν τις δικές τους πρακτικές.

Η σύμπραξη συγκεντρώνει εννέα εταίρους από έξι χώρες της ΕΕ. Συγκεκριμένα, τρία πανεπιστήμια (UPO, Ισπανία, UHO, Ελλάδα και ESEPF, Πορτογαλία). δύο ενώσεις (IAIE, Ολλανδία και SIRIUS, Βέλγιο) και τρία σχολεία (Malala, Ισπανία, τη σχολή Giovanni Falcone, Ιταλία και το σχολείο Tahia, Κροατία).

Θα δημιουργηθούν δύο Intellectual Outputs:

(O1) Oδηγός αποτελεσματικών πρακτικών “Διαπολιτισμική κατάρτιση για μια εκπαίδευση με στόχο την ένταξη”
Δέσμη δεικτών για τον εντοπισμό καλών πρακτικών. Το Δηλαδή κριτήρια για να προσδιορίσει κάθε εκπαιδευτικός τι πραγματικά χαρακτηρίζει ως «αποτελεσματικές πρακτικές» αναφορικά με τις πρωτοβουλίες στην Ευρώπη που επικεντρώνονται στη διαπολιτισμική εκπαίδευση και στην εκπαίδευση για την ένταξη, και θα προσφέρει στους δασκάλους τη δυνατότητα να «αυτο-αξιολόγηση» των δικών τους εκπαιδευτικών πρακτικών.
(O2) Μια συστηματική διαπολιτισμική κατάρτιση για τους εκπαιδευτικούς. Βασισμένη στη χρήση αποτελεσματικών πρακτικών έτσι ώστε να είναι σε θέση να αντιμετωπίσουν με επιτυχία τις προκλήσεις στο περιβάλλον μάθησης που σχετίζονται με την ισότητα, τη διαφορετικότητα και την ένταξη.

Η μεθοδολογία που θα ακολουθηθεί θα είναι επαγωγική, δηλαδή θα επικεντρώσουμε σε συγκεκριμένες μελέτες περίπτωσης, θα αναπτυχθεί μια πειραματική προσέγγιση που θα ανταποκρίνεται στις εντοπισμένες ανάγκες.

Απώτερος στόχος είναι η συμβολή στη βελτίωση των επιδόσεων των ομάδων, της ψυχικής ανθεκτικότητας και κοινωνικής ένταξης ομάδων του μαθητικού πληθυσμού που κινδυνεύουν από τον κοινωνικό αποκλεισμό.

The new edition of the TOY online course “Together Old and Young: An Intergenerational Approach” starts on 2nd March 2020 and will remain open for 6 weeks.

During this course you will learn about intergenerational practice with young children (0 – 8 years old) and older adults (65+ years old) and you will discover practical ways to create opportunities for good quality and sustainable intergenerational learning activities.

The online course is free and is offered in English.

It consists of four weekly Modules containing videos, articles, discussion forums, quizzes and games. Each Module requires approximately 6 hours study. On successful completion of the course you can upgrade your account at a cost of 50 Euro to receive the TOY Certificate of Achievement and have unlimited access to the course contents beyond the 6-week open period.

Impressive creations were made during the Cultural Workshops of the WEMIN project!

The cultural workshops, part of the EU funded project “WEMIN: Migrant Women Empowerment and Integration”, were successfully implemented by the “Olympic Training & Consulting Ltd” (partner organization), supported by “HOU-DAISSy Research Group” (Coordinator). In particular, two artistic workshops were organized, concerning the creation of decorative and utility objects made from clay and fabric (31.10.-29.11.2019, Athens).

The workshops took place in suitable and well equipped premises in Athens city centre, was easily accessed by both native women and migrant / refugee women (MRW). In each workshop that lasted up to 24hours, took part women from Afghanistan, Iran, Ethiopia, Congo, Syria and Greece, who created lovely artistic and everyday objects like tablecloths, pillows, blankets, hair ribbons, lamps, bowls and jewelry.

Besides, most of the MRW who experienced the cultural workshops, had also participated in other WEMIN project activities, such as the Greek language courses and the empowerment and mentoring sessions. In the context of the cultural workshops’ implementation, they had the opportunity to practice the recently learned Greek vocabulary and test their language competences on the basis of common creativity, exchange and sharing of memories and experiences between women of different ethnic, linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

The interaction between women was true and vivid. During the meetings they had the opportunity to share information and get familiarized with customs, practices and perceptions different from their own, but also similar in many ways and built on common grounds. Apart from its overall objective, that is the coming together and interaction of MRW and native women, the workshops succeeded in consisting for migrant and refugee women a short and joyful release and refuge from a difficult everyday reality.

The handmade objects created in the workshops were presented at a special exhibition held in parallel and in the same venue that the d international closing conference of the WEMIN project was held in Athens (8 & 9 December 2019). The “Olympic Training & Consulting Ltd” organized the exhibition in collaboration with the women who took part in the cultural workshops. Moreover, migrant and refugee women had the opportunity to attend the conference presentations and discussions while many of them took active part in one of the conference’s interesting workshops titled “Intercultural Breakfast as an Integration tool”. . After the international conference and the exhibition were finished, the handmade objects were shared to the women who had created them.

While the WEMIN project is coming to an end, the women who participated in all the project’s actions have already expressed their wish for the project to continue, underlying the importance of this kind of projects in their integration in the host society.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (776211-ΑΜIF-2016-AG-INTE) and includes a transnational partnership in 8 EU Member States (Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Germany and Sweden). Διεθνές συνέδριο “Women in Displacement: gender, migration and the challenges of integration in today’s Europe”

Με επιτυχία ολοκληρώθηκαν οι εργασίες του διεθνούς συνεδρίου με θέμα “Women in Displacement: gender, migration and the challenges of integration in today’s Europe” που διοργανώθηκε από την Ερευνητική ομάδα DAISSy του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου την Κυριακή 8 Δεκεμβρίου 2019 (9.00-20.00) και Δευτέρα 9 Δεκεμβρίου 2019 (9.00-14.00), στην Αθήνα (ξενοδοχείο “Crowne Plaza”, δ/νση: Μιχαλακοπούλου 50).

Το συνέδριο πραγματοποιήθηκε στο πλαίσιο της υλοποίησης του ευρωπαϊκού έργου “WEMIN: Migrant Women Empowerment and Integration” (Ενδυνάμωση και Ενσωμάτωση Μεταναστριών) και κέντρισε το ενδιαφέρον ερευνητών, ακαδημαϊκών και εμπειρογνωμόνων, εκπροσώπων αρχών, φορέων, οργανώσεων και συλλόγων, ενεργών πολιτών, και γενικότερα ατόμων που δραστηριοποιούνται στη μελέτη, έρευνα και πρακτική στα πεδία της μετανάστευσης, της μεταναστευτικής πολιτικής, της ενδυνάμωσης και κοινωνικής ενσωμάτωσης μεταναστών και προσφύγων, και συναφών αντικειμένων.

Οι παρουσιάσεις και όλο το συναφές υλικό του συνεδρίου θα αναρτηθεί τις επόμενες μέρες στην ηλεκτρονική πλατφόρμα του έργου WEMIN για την προώθηση της ομότιμης μάθησης και δικτύωσης, στην οποία σας καλούμε να κάνετε εγγραφή και να πλοηγηθείτε (link).

Το έργο χρηματοδοτείται από το Ταμείο Ασύλου, Μετανάστευσης και Ένταξης της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης (776211-AMIF-2016-AG-INTE) και περιλαμβάνει διακρατικό εταιρικό σχήμα σε οκτώ κράτη-μέλη Ε.Ε.
